For patients that find themselves in the position on being unable to use their own gametes (eggs or sperm), we are able to offer them the opportunity to have a child by using egg or sperm donors. We understand that this creates tremendous stress for patients, and the process to get to the point of deciding to choose this path requires professional guidance along the way. We have excellent psychological resources for patients/couples when moving forward with 3rd party reproduction and Dr. Rodriguez and his staff are available to offer help and support through each step.

Dallas and Plano Egg Donation and Sperm Services*Donor Egg Candidates are women that have gone through menopause or are undergoing menopause prematurely, have been diagnosed with premature ovarian failure, have failed multiple IVF cycle because of poor egg quality, have had surgical removal of the ovaries, or have had cancer treatment which have affected ovarian function.

*Donor Sperm Candidates are couples whose partner has very low sperm counts, has physical conditions that prevents obtaining sperm by surgical methods or for single women or same-sex couples.

At present, we are directing our patients to a number of reputable agencies that recruit young women for the purpose of anonymous donation. The donor candidates complete an extensive agency questionnaire that includes the donor’s personal characteristics, her, as well as her family’s education history, her interests, and a personal note as to why they have chosen to donate. Once chosen and formally matched, we carefully screen the candidate by taking an extensive medical history, review of family history, and perform a full physical exam. In addition, the donor has a psychological evaluation (if not already performed), they are drug screened, and have genetic testing, as well as required FDA screening for sexually transmitted diseases.

For donor sperm, we refer to cryobanks. The cryobanks take a complete personal and family medical background; obtain physical characteristics, educational background, and personal interests/talents. The candidates will be carefully screened for sexually transmitted diseases and then sperm samples will be quarantined for a six month period. At the end of the quarantine, the donor will be retested for sexually transmitted diseases before the sperm is released for use.
